Edward Fleming Jewellery launches youtube chanel

London based jewellery designer Edward Fleming has launched a youtube chanel dedicated to jewellery rendering, making, gemstones and mining.  The first jewellery design video features Edward rendering pave set round diamonds and pear cut green tourmalines in an earring design using gouache watercolour paints.

Over the coming weeks, the channel will feature more jewellery rendering videos and step by step tutorials for budding jewellery designers and keen illustrators alike.

Subscribers are encouraged to try the tutorials and submit requests for gemstones they would like to see rendered and techniques they need help with.

Jewellery rendering

The process of jewellery rendering by hand has been used for centuries by jewellery designers to communicate their ideas to clients.  In the present day the process has found a new lease of life as social media and video sharing platforms have allowed customers to appreciate the skill and detail that goes into these illustrations.

Edward, who is a fairtrade registered goldsmith and advocate for ethical sourcing in the jewellery industry, has been working as a freelance jewellery designer in the UK since leaving Central St Martins in 2018.  As well as gouache renders, Edward offers freelance CAD services and works with small jewellery brands to develop their designs and business.
